Stream WMV/AVI files from Mac to Apple TV 3
Compared with Apple TV 2, the biggest update of the Apple TV 3 is an upgrade from 720p to 1080p. The ATV 3 supported video formats are also in the former range, including H.264/MPEG-4 video in .mp4, .mov, and .m4v file formats, and Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) video in .avi file format. You wanna stream some unsupported files like WMV movies, AVI files through Apple TV 3, you may have to encode those AVI/WMV to Apple TV 3 compatible formats in the first place.
