As Sony camera users, I'd like to share my experience about how to convert Sony MTS/M2TS videos to standard video and play on Computer, TV, portable playbacks such as iPod, iPhone, Zune, PSP and upload videos to share with internet.
Summary: This article includes three chapters:

How much do you know about MTS and M2TS?
According to Wikipedia, both MTS and M2TS are Sony high definition video file types, which are raw AVCHD videos recorded by AVCHD camcorders such as Sony HDR-SR1 camcorders. And m2ts files usually record onto 8cm mini DVDS or blue-ray DVDS, SD memory cards and Memory Stick, or record onto hard drive camcorder.
Why Convert MTS/ M2TS to AVI, MP4, MPEG, WMV, FLV?
If someone used to have m2ts or other AVC HD videos, he would be frustrated that there are so little devices which support m2ts video. Normally, you can only play your m2ts video directly from a camcorder on a HDTV with a HDMI, or play on a Blu-ray Disc player.
However, have you imagined playing your mts/m2ts videos on your PC, laptop, iPod, iPhone or any other portable mp4 players? Or even uploading your mts or m2ts video to Youtube, Google videos to share with all of your friends?
In order to find out a workable method to do that, I have searched relate questions on search engine. Great, so I can convert Sony MTS/M2TS videos to standard video and play on my Apple TV?
Can the video converter convert MTS/M2TS video to Apple TV video? But it doesn't matter, I've got free apple tv dvd converter from the Christmas Special Offer now.
Anyway, thanks for your good guide. I'm going to make a Christmas video for my family with my sony camera and worry about how to share M2TS video with my friends. Now I can upload M2TS video to internet and share with more people.

Thanks for this info.
I have several MTS video on my Sony camera , and I want to burn it on a blank DVD disk . But Video Converter just can convert video , is there any software can convert MTS video and burn video to DVD ?
