Rip 4:3 DVD movie to 16:9 widescreen for Adobe Premiere Pro/CS4
"I have some DVD 4:3 videos, if I change it to 16:9 with some programs, the image is slightly stretched. I also find Adobe Premiere Pro/CS4 is not the best way to do it. Is there a way to convert my 4:3 DVD video to 16:9 widescreen without reducing the image quality?"
Frankly speaking, ripping DVD videos from 4:3 to 6:9 will some or less reduce the image quality, but I can give you a compromise somewhere in order to match 4:3 and 16:9 footage. Nowadays, for me, it seems to be the best method.
The process of converting 4:3 DVD videos to 16:9 for Adobe Premiere Pro/CS4.
Step 1: Please free download the program Moyea DVD Ripper, which is a powerful DVD converter could help you rip and convert 4:3 DVD videos to 16:9 widescreen, and get Adobe Premiere Pro/CS4 workable format like DV-AVI, MPG, WMV, MOV, AC3, MPEG4, etc, only three steps, only few time.
Step 2: Please launch the DVD Ripper; import your 4:3 DVD videos with any video format into this program.
Step 3: Method of the first situation.
First Situation: If the tops and bottoms of movies are blank, you can clip the tops and bottoms off the 4:3 DVD footage to match the 16:9. This obviously only works if the tops and bottoms don't contain needed footage.
So please click "Edit"into a new window, you will find there is a function of "Crop", click it, then please don't hesitate to drag the dashed lines to cut off the black tops and bottoms, and click OK. It seems the image could be stretched, don’t worry, please check the box of "Keep Original Aspect Ratio" to keep your cropped aspect ratio for keeping good quality. Please check the follow picture.
Step 4: Method of the second situation.
Second Situation: If you can't clip the tops of the DVD movie, you can set the image resolution from 4:3 to 16:9, of course, you can calculate by yourself.
So please directly select output format workable in Adobe Premiere like MPG, WMV, MOV, DV-AVI, etc. Then click “Settings” to modify the Size (Pixel) as 1920*1080, 1280*720, etc. You can calculate to get the pixel with 16:9 by directly type it in.
After done that, please select output format workable in Adobe Premiere Pro/CS4 (this step is completed by the second situation in step 4, but not the first situation in step 3) and click "Convert", then the converted DVD files could be 16:9 widescreen with satisfied quality, and you can edit them in Adobe Premiere, or output to widescreen TV for enjoyment now.
Hope it helps!
