Feel was probably by far my biggest surprise. If you did the Pepsi challenge and took 10 short irons, 9 forged and a r11, I don't know if I could honestly pick the "cast" club out of the bunch simply on feel. As your progress through the set, the feeling we all associate with casting starts to appear in the 3, 4, and maybe even the 5 iron. TaylorMade R11 IronsIf you look at the cavity behind the red port on each club, you'll notice that it's progressively increased throughout the set. For instance the PW has a near solid back with very little cavity between the weight port and the face. The 3 iron on the other hand has a nearly completely hollow back. Therefore it makes sense that the 3 iron still has the traditional cast cavity back feel yet the sound is a little more dead then the 'hot' thin faced cast cavities I've hit in the past.
TaylorMade R11 irons have a weight port on the back of the club head. The weight port is a fixed permanent location on the back and center location of the club head. This weight is called Precision Weighting. Ping G20 Irons The purpose of the weight port is to make a clean and uniform swing for the golfer. You can purchase several of these weights from online golf stores or directly from TaylorMade. By using a lesser weight, 5 grams, the club head would be perfect for the golfer that is a slow swinger. With a weight of 15-20 grams or more, be asured that a swing of 130 miles per hour, can sail the ball at a much greater distance. Last month I was a little hesitant standing over long irons, especially with trouble right (my miss). Not to say that I still don't feel a little uncomfortable with a 3 iron in my hand, but now at least I can have a 4 in my hand instead, and have some confidence that the club will help me a little more.The soles of the R11 irons are moderately thin TaylorMade R11s Driver and the leading edge is moderately sharp, helping it to enter and exit the turf quickly and smoothly. The long-irons are engineered with wider soles to pull the CG lower for easier, higher launch while also increasing MOI to make them more stable and forgiving.
