The Panasonic AG-HPX370 Series P2 HD Camcorder is an affordable 1/3" ENG camcorder that offers full-raster 4:2:2 sampling using the professional AVC-Intra HD codec. Equally at home recording 100Mbps DVCPRO HD, the AG-HPX370 brings new levels of lowlight performance to its three 1/3" CMOS sensors, utilizing Ultra Luminance Technology to provide the sensitivity and image quality of larger 1/2" imagers.
As you know, Panasonic AG-HPX370 can generate MXF recordings in AVC-Intra and DVCPRO HD codec. While, when you want to import AG-HPX370 P2 MXF files to FCP for editing, you will get frustrated due to the video codec incompatibility problem. In fact, Final Cut Pro most compatible format is Apple ProRes, FCP does not support direct editing of AVC-Intra in the timeline. What’s more, although Final Cut Pro can support DVCPRO HD codec, you will meet some stuttering problem when playing the P2 MXF footage in FCP on Mac.
In order to solve the above problems, you can use a professional Panasonic P2 MXF to FCP Converter on your Mac, to help you convert HPX370 P2 MXF to ProRes for FCP. Here I take the best P2 MXF Converter for FCP (as far as I know) as an example. I have had a strong understanding of it on my MacBook. It works fast and gives me the perfect video quality. Plus, I have successefully used the Mac MXF Converter Tool to solve some problems on other Panasonic P2 camcorders like AG-HPX300, AG-HPX170PJ, AG-HPX250PJ, AG-HPX255, AG-HVX200A, AG-HPX500, AJ-HPX2000, AJ-HPX3100GJ to FCP importing, and I can freely set the "setting profile".
Guide: Transcode Panasonic AG-HPX370 P2 MXF to FCP with best video/audio settings on Mac
1. After the installation of the MXF Converter for Mac, you can launch it and import your MXF files to it.
Tip: To join multiple MXF files into one file for easier editing in Final Cur Pro, please tick the "Merge into one" box.
2. Click on the “Format” and get the dropdown menu, then move your pointer to “Final Cut Pro”. Under the sublist are there a few formats which are all compatible with FCP. Here we recommend the Apple PreRes 422(HQ) to you.
3. To get a perfect output video for editing in FCP, please click the Setting icon to do some audio/video settings. Here you’d better set the video frame rate as 30fps, video size as 1920*1080 to keep the best quality. (For original 50i MXF video, frame rate should be in 25fps.)
Tip: Before start the conversion, click Edit button and you can deinterlace Panasonic 1080i P2 MXF footages for FCP via checking the “Deinterlacing” box in the Video Editor interface.
4. Click “Convert” button to start the Panasonic AG-HPX370 P2 MXF to ProRes for FCP conversion with the best MXF Converter for Mac OS X.
When conversion complete, you can get the resulted video from the output folder. Then it’s available for you to copy or transfer Panasonic AG-HPX370 MXF to FCP on Mac for further editing without any trouble.
