据加拿大《星岛日报》报道，加拿大25岁中国籍男子汤远熙因涉嫌弑母被控一级谋杀罪。当地曾有一自称为汤远熙同学的网友，曾经在互联网发表评论指出，汤远熙是个赌徒，经常到烈治文市的河石赌场(RiverRockCasino)玩乐。汤远熙接受访问时表示，他去过该赌场小玩，每次输赢都不会超过200元，他强调自己没有欠下任何赌债。
　　汤远熙还透露，他是经由朋友介绍前往该赌场小赌。有时候玩吃角子老虎机，还能赢几十元，够一天的伙食费。
　　他强调说，自己 http://www.amyule.net/ 只是小赌小玩，绝不会向地下钱庄借钱大赌。他表示有感于父母赚钱不易，并未染上吸毒、上夜店等不良嗜好。而间中上上赌场，“仅是消遣娱乐而已。”
　　他坦承到加拿大至今6年期间，起初4年求学期间有一些好朋友，但他们纷纷回中国发展，目前在当地已无知心朋友。生活圈子愈来愈小，有时心里非常苦闷，就会到赌场解闷。
　　汤远熙表示，在自己出事之后，由于在当地没有弑母朋友，所以从来没有人探视过他。
