Lots of excellent camcorders series, like Canon XF series(XF305, XF100, XF105, XF300 etc.) and Canon C300 record high-definition video footages in .mxf format. These high define mxf file is a good format to maintain the high quality of the video, but this format is not compatible with editing software. you may encounter many problems when you try to import MXF to imovie on Mac. To get those MXF file for editing on iMovie, the best solution is to encode MXF to Apple ProRes mov for iMovie on Mac.
