The PING G20 is sneaky long (260.58 yards average as a group). It’s so sneaky in fact that the majority of our testers failed to actually notice how far they were hitting the ball. From shot to shot most of our testers would likely have told you that the G20 was average at best (a couple actually told us they think it’s shorter than most drivers).
Of course, this isn’t my first rodeo, and I had a sneaking suspicion that when I pulled the distance numbers from the launch monitor there would be some surprises. It's just that PING is about more than looking good. This is a club maker that believes beauty is more than skin deep. Function has always been more important to PING G20 Driver than flashy good looks (some of PING's early putters and iron sets are classic examples of this design philosophy - they were ugly but extremely good clubs). We want to golf clubs irons. It does this by ensuring that the center of gravity is optimally-positioned, the design is aerodynamic, and the club head is stable and forgiving on off-center hits.
