Convert HDC-SD80 1080p footage to Adobe Premiere Element
Edit Panasonic HDC-SD80 1080p footage in Adobe Premiere Element?
“I have been doing quite a bit of research the last few days on how to best to import/edit/output to Blu-ray. My 1080 60p footage is from Panasonic HDC-SD80 camcorder and it seems the Premiere Element will not accept it. In reading through the forum posts, it looks like there are issues with 1080 60p footage in Elements… So what the problem is? What are all of the other HDC-SD80 owners doing to edit their footage is the best possible quality?”
Panasonic HDC models (HDC-SD80, TM900, TM700, etc) record high definition 1080p, 1080i AVCHD and iFrame H.264 format. The AVCHD recording mode gives up 1920 x 1080 HD footage of very high quality, but unfortunately Premiere Elements 10 does not support full import of 1080 60p .mts files. To get Panasonic HDC-SD80 1080p footage into Adobe Premiere Element, you need to compress/encode the FULL HD footage and export 720p 60/ 1920X1080p 24 or 30 video, which seems to be the most widely accepted format for Blu-ray, PC, Mac, etc.
Follow the guide below to convert Panasonic HDC-SD80 1080p footage for editing with Premiere Element 10 via best AVCHD to Premiere Converter
1. Install and run Pavtube MTS/ M2TS Converter ($29)
2. Drag and drop the Panasonic HDC-SD80 .mts files to the HDC-SD 80 to Premiere Converter
3. Click on the Format bar and find “Adobe Premiere/ Sony Vegas”, then choose WMV, MPG, or MOV format from the sub-list. To set video resolution (1080p/720p) and frame rate(24/30/60), press “Settings”.
4. Click “Convert” to start encoding HDC-SD80 1080p footage to Premiere Element 10 editable format.
More tips on editing Panasonic High Definition Camcorder footage:
1. If you’re converting Panasonic HDC 1080i footage, better deinterlace the video when converting/compressing it. Activate Deinterlacing function by stepping through Edit-> Effect-> Deinterlacing.
2. Premiere Elements 10 does not include support for 1920x1080 60p. It does, however, include support for 1280x720 60p and DSLR 640x480 60p.
3. The MTS/ M2TS Converter can convert files in batch so you may import all that you would like to convert.
