However, the entrance of the more intellectual and empathetic Margaret Schroeder into Nucky's circle eventually led him to unceremoniously drop Lucy,boardwalk empire dvd as her tempestuous and rather childish attitudes had already been wearing thin for Nucky by then.
Left adrift, Lucy later meets Nelson Van Alden at a speakesay and strikes up a one-time sexual relationship with him, although it is obvious he is ashamed of himself afterwards. In the season finale she finds Nelson at the post office he is conducting his investigation from, and reveals that she is pregnant with his child, leaving Van Alden shocked and horrified at the consequnces he must now deal with.
