Boardwalk Empire: "What Does the Bee Do?" Review
Jimmy and Doyle take a trip to Philadelphia to secure a new business venture with Jewish gangster Manny Horvitz (boardwalk empire dvd), just as John Slater's bomb takes out one of Jimmy's key whiskey shacks. And the scene where Jimmy's wife has a mask-less Harrow pose for a portrait? Expect to tear up. At least twice.
Recently,
boardwalk empire season 1 dvd IGN TV's Matt Fowler and I had a discussion about how Boardwalk is a technically well-made and well-written show, but Matt - and others - find it hard to care about the characters. To invest emotion in them the way we do with the likes of say The Sopranos or the anti-heroes of Deadwood. This isn't a feeling that I share, but I understand why others do.
As long as more episodes like "boardwalk empire box set" roll out this season, those concerns should be laid to rest.
