The Simpsons is brilliant. The Simpsons DVD I don't care if you disagree they are. If you've never been that bothered by them I suggest you take a chance. The Simpsons is not a cartoon. Thats an insult. Its the greatest comedy show ever in the history of the World. Perhaps most fantastic is its ability to appeal to such a wide audience at any one time. Ironic, witty, intelligent and daft all apply to this brilliant series. Season 1 is of course different to every other season in that its drawn differently, CSI Miami DVD there is not quite the same polish to the animation as there is with other seasons but it contains the same brilliant writing and superbly executed voice acting. The Telltale Head, Bart the Genius Homer's Night Out and my personal favourite of the season The Call of The Simpsons are magnificent. Genius. Back in the day, Barney was blonde, Flanders wasn't (openly) religious and Homer was just a regular dumb guy. It seems that some things Grey's Anatomy DVD have changed in the strange, timeless world of the Simpsons, though most things haven't. Thirteen episodes of the greatest sitcom there ever was (just you try and tell me otherwise) were released in 1989/90. In comparison with later episodes, they looked rougher, were paced a good deal slower and weren't, dare I say it, quite as funny. When Matt Groening (Simpsons creator, cartoon boy) claims in his DVD Two and a Half Men DVD sleeve-notes that "we didn't know what the hell we were doing back then", I don't doubt him. But they were learning fast. It's easy (fun too), but unfair to compare the first season unfavourably with its successors - what we have here is a well-written, well-acted and well-drawn sitcom slowly and surely sailing towards greatness. The steady increase in quality as the series goes on is self-evident; with episodes like The Call of the Simpsons, Life on the Fast Lane, Homer's Night Out and Some Enchanted Evening showing what, even then, Weeds DVD The Simpsons were capable of.
