Sony HDR-XR520 is the AVCHD camera that can be used by wedding photographers, high school teacher, colleague videographer and the like for video production, teaching or organization promotion. The 240GB internal hard disk drive is remarkable for storing long time videos. The HD videos from Sony HDR-XR520 are 1920x1080 or 1440x1080. As the bundled editing software for Sony Handycam HDR-XR520 is not so good, non-linear editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Premiere Elements, Avid Media Composer, Avid Xpress Pro is more professional for editing.
However, you may face problem when trying to edit Sony HDR-XR520 MTS videos in Avid MC or Avid Xpress Pro that the Avid does not recognize the .mts file. It is most likely the codec problem.
