Enjoy 3D Blu-ray with 2D TV and player
Suammary: Playing 3D Blu-ray on 2D TV is possible, since 3D Blu-ray is back-ward compatible with 2D TV and Blu-ray player. With 3D Blu-ray Ripper and glasses, you can enjoy 3D Blu-ray with 2D TV freely.
Theoretically, to enjoy 3D movies at home you need 3D HDTV, 3D Blu-ray player and 3D glasses. But in reality only a few guys would spend like thousands $ on an expensive 3D HDTV just for 3D Blu-ray experience. More often we would rather keep the old 2D TV. So the concerning here is, can we use a 3D Blu-ray player if my HDTV is not 3D? The answer is YES.
Blu-ray 3D format is designed to be display-agnostic. That means you don't necessarily have to use a 120 Hz alternate-frame sequencing display, while a DLP TV with a checkerboard format or a polarized monitor plus a pair of 3D glasses might work. The 3D that you get from the older movies are done in green/blue or red/green glasses. This year there are new version of 3D, they use a newer technology with shutter glasses that syncs with the movie. With the new 3D you will need a compatible 3D TV/projector and a compatible Blu-ray player. If your TV refuses to display Blu-ray in 3D, you can play the movie in 2D mode - 3D Blu-rays can be played back in standard 2D mode if desired (only one view is shown instead of alternating left and right views). Or you may get the Blu-ray Disc ripped into 3D videos so as to play 3D Blu-ray on 2D TV screen.
Last week I tweeted about having successfully ripped my several 3D Blu-Rays to 3D videos, and while the process wasn't actually all that difficult. Below I will throw this quick tutorial up.
First, the most important piece of the equation is that you have a 3D Blu-ray Ripping tool hooked to your PC. If you're looking for ease of use, and don't mind spending $40 (they currently have a sale), I've had success using Pavtube's 3D Blu-ray Ripper to convert my 3D/2D Blu-Ray discs to 3D formats playable by my 2D TV. I've found the quality to be excellent, and see no difference when compared to playing the discs themselves. To be honest, the 3D Blu-ray Ripper can easily make you enjoy 3D/2D Blu-ray movies freely with your PS3/2D Player/2D TV.

How to rip 3D Blu-ray into 3D videos for enjoying on 2D TV
Step 1. Run the top 3D Blu-ray Converter, follow “File> Load from Disc” to import Blu-ray movie from BD drive.
Step 2. When BD movie get loaded, select the main title and press “Edit” icon to open up Video Editor window.
Step 3. Press “3D” icon to set 3D effect. Set “Red-Blue” or “Red-Green” mode based on your 3D glasses. Click “OK”.
Step 4. Back to the main window, click on “Format” bar and choose a format for 3D Blu-ray ripping. Basically "Common Video" formats give pretty good quality, for high-def 1080p effect you can choose a format template from "HD Video". There are various formats to choose from, MKV, AVI, MP4, MOV, TS, etc. If you’d also like to watch 3D Blu-ray video on iPad 3, MP4 is a best choice.
Step 5. Press “Convert” icon to start ripping 3D Blu-ray movie into 3D video. It could take hours to rip a Blu-ray movie, be patient.
After conversion completes you just tap on "Open" button to find generated 3D video. And you can play the video with Blu-ray player, PS3, WD TV, and other portable media players. Keep in mind that the encoded 3D video does not equals original 3D Blu-ray movie effect, although it creates 3D videos that play on both 2D and 3D devices. To enjoy Blu-ray in real 3D, a 3D TV/projector is still prior.
