How to compress video size for uploading onto YouTube?
Video resources has become an absolutely necessary part of our daily lives, we can get them from various ways, such as downloading from video sharing websites, purchasing from DVD resellers, recording via digital cameras or camcorders, copying from a friend, or some ways else. Besides acquisition, as well, we are willing to upload our handy video files onto YouTube for sharing with everyone else. To upload videos to YouTube successfully, we often need compress file sizes and transfer video formats, because YouTube has limitations on the two aspects.
Generally speaking, YouTube allows standard account holders to upload videos in length not more than 10 minutes, and in file size not more than 2GB. Hence, we need compress these files to meet the requirements before uploading.
Moreover, YouTube accepts videos uploaded in formats including WMV, AVI, MKV, MOV, MPEG, MP4, DivX, FLV, 3GP, and OGG. If your videos are out of this scope, you should convert them to these formats previously.
Personally, I usually use Pavtube Video Converter to transfer and compress the file size of my videos. Now I will give a detailed guide here to show you how to compress video file size via this converter, hope it helps.
1. Download Pavtube Video Converter, and then install and run it.
2. Import video files, set output format and destination folder
Click button “Add” to load the video files you want to convert from your PC. Then, you will see such an interface as below, you can click the drop-down list of “Format” to select the output format, do remember choosing one in the range of WMV, AVI, MKV, MOV, MPEG, MP4, DivX, FLV, 3GP, and OGG. Then, you should press the output folder to decide where to place the resulted files, otherwise, the program will export them to the folder set by default automatically. Furthermore, if you want to combine multiple files into a single file, you can tick checkbox “Merge into one file” to achieve it. Here I add my m2ts files as an example, and select AVI as the output format.
3. Compress file size by setting advanced settings.
This step is the key point of this guide. Press button “Settings”, and then the following interface will show up, you can adjust the video and audio parameters like image pixels, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate to change the output file size. The smaller values produce the smaller file size.
4. Convert
After all the above settings are done, you can click “Convert” to start conversion. The following interface will give you an estimation of the output file size, so that you can ensure whether your files are surpassing the limitation of 2GB. If not, you can cancel the conversion, and go back to “Settings’’ to reset the parameters, until the output files are suitable for uploading onto YouTube.
