NEW YORK, N. Youth Andre Johnson Jersey .Y. - Even Kevin Millwood was caught up in Andy Pettittes return to the big leagues. Still, he was happy to play the spoiler. Millwood pitched three-hit ball for seven innings and Casper Wells and Justin Smoak each hit a two-run homer, lifting the Seattle Mariners past Pettitte and the New York Yankees 6-2 Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep. "I was watching him," Millwood said of Pettitte, who hadnt pitched since retiring after the 2010 season. "I think everybody was kind of curious." Millwood (1-4) almost missed out on the 2011 season, too, but not by choice. He spent much of the year in the minors with the Yankees and Red Sox before joining the Colorado Rockies rotation in August. He signed with Seattle in the off-season. He was winless in six starts this year, but the 37-year-old right-hander kept the Yankees guessing Sunday. He got his 2,000th career strikeout and was helped by three double plays. "I felt like I changed speeds pretty well, moved the ball around," Millwood said. Mariners manager Eric Wedge was impressed with Millwoods pitch selection. "I thought he was outstanding today," Wedge said. "He did a great job with his secondary stuff, working off his fastball." The Yankees tried to prevent their old pal Pettitte from taking the loss with a rally in the eighth against four Seattle relievers. Robinson Cano was walked with two outs by Charlie Furbush with the bases loaded to make it 4-2. Mark Teixeira, though, struck out to end the inning. The lovefest for Pettitte (0-1) began when the lefty appeared with several players in videos welcoming fans to Yankee Stadium after batting practice. The cheers grew as he strolled out to the bullpen for warmups and fans rose for a standing ovation when the five-time World Series champion followed his teammates onto the field for the first inning. Yankee Stadium got awful quiet, though, when Wells homered in the sixth to give Seattle a 4-1 lead with his first of the season, an opposite-field drive off the netting on the right-field pole. Smoak homered for Seattles first hit with two outs in the fourth. A big Yankees fan growing up, Wells thought facing Pettitte, his sisters favourite pitcher, made the day even more special. "Facing Andy Pettitte, its a lot of things coming true, so its pretty special," said Wells, who grew up in Schenectady, N.Y. Pettittes return had become more important to the Yankees because their rotation had been struggling, with Freddy Garcia demoted to the bullpen. But through the first five games of this homestand, the teams starters were 4-0 with a 1.31 ERA and manager Joe Girardi thought their performance would take some of the pressure off Pettitte. The broad-chested 39-year-old appeared calm as ever in his first big league start since Game 3 of the AL championship series against Texas on Oct. 18, 2010. He sat out last season before deciding in mid-March to make a comeback. With his cap pulled low, and peering over his glove held up in front of his nose, it looked as if No. 46 never missed a game for New York. After Nick Swisher caught leadoff batter Dustin Ackleys fly to right with a leap at the wall, Pettitte walked Wells. He then got Ichiro Suzuki to ground into a double play. Pettitte walked Alex Liddi with two outs in the second but Mike Carp grounded out to end the inning. "I just cannot believe how comfortable this is for me," Pettitte said. "I dont know how to explain it." Not having allowed a hit two outs into the fourth, Pettitte walked former Yankees prospect Jesus Montero and Smoak lined a homer to left. Pettitte showed little emotion on the mound. Wells homered following Ackleys leadoff single in the sixth. The Mariners then loaded the bases with one out on three straight singles but Girardi stuck with Pettitte, and Carp grounded to first. Teixeira stepped on the bag and threw home, and catcher Russell Martin tagged a sliding Montero. Montero, wearing pink shoes for Mothers Day, limped off the field. Pettitte returned for one batter in the seventh and induced his 12th groundball out. He left to a loud ovation despite trailing 4-1. Millwood had little trouble in his best start of the season. With runners on first and second in the third, he got Derek Jeter to ground into the first of his two double plays. Jeter also hit into an inning-ending double play after Millwood walked Martin to force in a run in the fifth. Alex Rodriguez grounded sharply into a 6-4-3 double play after a leadoff walk to Curtis Granderson, one of four walks by Millwood. "We turned some big double plays," Millwood said. Millwood fanned Granderson leading off the fourth for his 2,000th career strikeout. NOTES: The Mariners had lost eight in a row on the road. ... Jeters single in the eighth was hit No. 3,142, tying him for 16th place on the career list with Robin Yount. ... Pettitte came in 11-11 against Seattle. The only other AL team that he doesnt have a winning record against is Cleveland (8-Cool. ... Wells homer was the Mariners first hit with runners in scoring position this series. The were 0 for 10 coming in. Youth J.J. Watt Jersey . Canadas Sports Leader captures the fourth and final major of the year with live coverage of all four rounds from Thursday, Aug. 9 to Sunday, Aug. 12 on TSN2 and TSN Mobile TV. Donnie Jones Jersey . The American took the opening set after Dodig double-faulted to give Querrey a 6-5 lead. In the second set, a netted forehand at 4-3 earned Dodig the only break, and in the final set a forehand error at 3-2 left Querrey in charge. http://www.shopnfltexansgear.com/donnie-jones-jersey/ . Feuz had to come first or second to earn an insurmountable lead in the standings with two races left but lost balance on a ski and slid off-course. "Obviously I am very disappointed," Feuz said. He now leads Austrias Marcel Hirscher, who finished third in the final super-G of the season, by 75 points with a giant slalom and a slalom remaining. Limited Danieal Manning Jersey .Y. -- Good news, Jets fans. Black Kevin Walter Jersey . Minor-league right-hander Jose De La Torre was sent to Boston, which had acquired Lillibridge on June 24 as part of the trade that sent corner infielder Kevin Youkilis to the Chicago White Sox. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller isnt about to second-guess the offensive game plan or start lobbying for more carries. "Thats not my job description," Spiller said on Monday. "I dont have to sit around and mope and be mad and try to go upstairs and talk to the coaches." Turns out, the NFLs leader in yards per carry doesnt need to stir the pot because others were doing that for him a day after the Bills inconsistent offence lacked finish -- and much of a ground game -- in a 21-9 loss to Houston. Coach Chan Gailey, an offensive-minded specialist, found himself on the defensive answering questions of whether he abandoned the run too early against the Texans. "I wish we couldve run it more the other day, but it was one of those situations where we thought it best to throw the football," Gailey said. "And it didnt work." Hes right about that. The Bills attempted just 16 rushes -- and only five in the second half -- while Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 25 of 38 for 239 yards, while being held without a touchdown for the third time in four games. Buffalo settled for attempting four fields goals (one missed, and three made) on four trips inside the Texans 22. Having lost four of five, the Bills (3-5) hit their mid-season mark suddenly in jeopardy of falling completely out of the playoff picture, and face a daunting task of travelling to play at AFC East rival New England (5-3) this weekend. The Patriots have already beaten Buffalo 52-28 this season, and the Bills have lost 11 straight games at New England. Gailey explained that the Bills stuck with the pass because of how the Texans lined up on defence in a bid to stop the run. And yet, Spiller and co-starter Fred Jackson still combined for 60 yards rushing on 12 carries. Spiller also added five catches for 63 yards despite being on the field for only 26 of Buffalos 57 plays on offence. The 16 rushing attempts (including three by Fitzpatrick and one by Brad Smith) matched the fewest during Gaileys two-plus season term in Buffalo. And they were made by an offence thats statistically been among the NFLs best at getting its running backs involved tthis season. Antoine Caldwell Jersey. Spiller leads the NFL in averaging 7.2 yards a carry and, with 24 catches for 236 yards, he leads running backs in averaging 7.8 yards each time he touches the ball. "You always like running the ball, but Im not going to complain about it," guard Andy Levitre said. "It was just part of the plan, I guess. I thought wed run the ball more but it just wasnt in the cards we were dealt." It wasnt lost on Fitzpatrick immediately following the game and also on Monday that the Bills need to lean on both Spiller and Jackson a little more often. "Thats no secret. ... We know weve got to give him the ball, and weve just got to find ways to do it," Fitzpatrick said. "But if we execute in the red zone and we score four touchdowns rather than attempt four field goals, then all of a sudden everybodys not talking about all that. Theyre talking about how great we did." Trouble was, Fitzpatrick and his receivers failed to deliver in what amounted to a dink-and-dunk passing approach that averaged a mere 9.6 yards a completion, and was even worse in the red zone. On nine snaps inside the Texans 20, the Bills combined for 8 yards, giving up two sacks and losing another 5 yards on a false-start penalty. That extended a string of red-zone sputters. After opening the season scoring seven touchdowns on 10 drives inside an opponents 20, Buffalos managed just four TDs on its last 11 trips. Fitzpatricks role in leading the offence is already being questioned. On Friday, general manager Buddy Nix suggested he intends to draft a quarterback to potentially compete for the starting job as early as next season. ------ NOTES: Since the start of last season, Buffalo is 8-4 when combining for 125 or more yards rushing and 1-11 when totalling fewer. ... Conversely, the Bills are 5-1 when Fitzpatrick has 29 or fewer pass attempts, and 4-14 when attempting 30-plus. ... Gailey acknowledged his weekly chats with team owner Ralph Wilson havent been upbeat of late. "Hes upset were losing. Would you expect anything less?" Gailey said. "I am, too. So weve got to win, and our weekly conversations will go better." ' ' '
