To me, striking the ball perfectly and then sinking a putt is one of the best feelings in my life. Just think back to a time on the golf course when you hit the perfect approach shot. Wasn't that one of the most enjoyable experiences you have ever had?

I really enjoy the feelings to land my approach shot on the putting green after a good drive with my TaylorMade Burner 2.0 Driver, my best golf partner, having a chance at birdie is exhilarating and making the putt is even better.

The new generation of Titleist 913D2 and 913D3 drivers won’t be available to club golfers to try-and-buy for a few weeks yet, but both clubs were on the driving range at Stoke Park recently when I had a chance to hit models of the club used by McIlroy. The cheap golf clubs, featuring the adjustable Sure-Fit hosel system to change both the loft and the lie angle, replace the 910D2 and 910D3 models but with slightly different-sized heads.

The design of the 913 driver centres around creating more distance and less spin through more efficient weighting and an improved CG location. Acushnet's engineers created the face using a Forged Variable Thickness Insert with a central thick portion combined with thinner, variable tapered thickness. Thinning the face away from the centre creates more forgiveness and speed across the entire face.

The sound has been tweaked a little too and in our tests it sounded very good with a lovely feel too. The forgiveness is very good and is actually amongst the best in the market so the Titleist 913 D2 driver should be in the bags of high single figure or even low teens handicap golfers as it is a very good all-rounder.

"In the 913s, we've really focused on enhancing the stability differences," Bezilla said. "The 913 D3 Driver is more workable, a control-type product, while the 913D2 is more balanced, combining performance and forgiveness, but they launch and spin the ball very similarly."

In addition, the Titleist 913 D3 driver are designed to generate spin numbers that are more similar to one another than their predecessors were. that’s a significant change because many high-swing-speed players wouldn’t consider the 910 D2 because it produced too much spin. With the 913 series, fittings likely will focus more on your preferred head shape and how much forgiveness/workability you want. specifically, the more rounded 913 D2 offers additional forgiveness with slightly more draw bias (2 to 3 yards), while the pear-shaped 913 D3 is more workable with no draw bias.
