IMX to AE CS6-Import Sony XDCAM HD MXF
Though Adobe claimed that "Premiere Pro CS6 software provides native support for Sony XDCAM, XDCAM EX, and XDCAM HD (including XDCAM HD 50) cameras and content with no transcoding required, smooth importing, strong metadata support, real-time editing, and flexible delivery options", lots of people get stuck in importing Sony XDCAM .mxf footage to Pro CS6/AE CE6, here's a post form adobe forum:
"I can't import Sony XDCAM HD mxf files into After Effects CS6. I have tried every thing, reinstalling, adobe tech, main concept. The original xdcam hd disks were transferred via a Sony XDcam HD data player to a external hard disk. Folders were copied exactly as on the disks. The external disk was then connected to the computer with CS6 which has all the presets. On importing via media browser or prelude or dragging still has the same result general error importing…."
If you have followed the Adobe guide of importing Sony XDCAM HD footage to Premiere Pro CS6 but still can't get the .mxf into After Effects, try the below encoding solution.

MXF Converter for Windows or MXF Converter for Mac based on your OS.
How to convert Sony XDCAM HD .mxf to Adobe After Effects CS6 editable format?
Step 1: Copy Sony XDCAM media on to the Storage Drive in a folder.
Step 2: Launch the best MXF to Adobe After Effects Converter. Click the "Add" button for adding to import the MXF files to the best MXF to After Effects Converter.
Step 3: Click on the dropdown menu of "Format", and then move your pointer to Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas> MPEG-2 (*.mpg) which is the perfect video format for you to transfer MXF to Adobe After Effects. Then you can set the output folder by clicking "Browse" icon as you prefer.

Note: To get original(best) video quality, you can keep original video size and bitrate.
Step 5: Click the "Convert" button and it will convert Sony XDCAM HD MXF, IMX files to MPG video immediately.
Step 6: Once the Mac MXF to AE CS6 conversion is done, you will be able to get the output files for Adobe After Effects via clicking on "Open" button effortlessly. Now you can easily import the converted Sony XDCAM HD footage to Adobe After Effects for editing keeping high quality effortlessly.
