If you're willing to sacrifice just a little bit of accuracy, the distance gains offered by the i20 might be worth it.
The sole is largely smooth with only "PING and "i20" disrupting the flow of the majority of the surface area. Seriously. The thing about the ping i20 driver is that when you miss that sweet spot by even just a little, the feel changes dramatically. Looking at the dispersion patterns alone on our range chart suggests our testers weren't excessively consistent with the PING i20.
Our testers were decidedly mixed when it came to this particular aspect of the i20 driver, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that survey results were very similar for the ping i20 hybrid. It's slightly dull in general, and the best of shots aren't rewarded with that undeniable pop that makes you and your playing partners take notice.
Those days are clearly over as the ping anser driver once again proves that PING is more than capable of producing a serious driver that looks the part. The matte black finish is the same. The alignment aid is the same, and the adjustable hosel doesn't add any visual bulk.
We've talked before about sound and feel being almost the same thing. In the case of the ping g20 driver they are pretty much are. While I personally prefer the G10 in this regard, there's nothing necessarily unpleasant about the G20. While it doesn't matter one way or the other, if your accustomed to a more prominent rounding of your driver face.
Where left to right is concerned, only a single tester missed by an average of more than 20 feet. Interestingly, the tester who missed by the largest margin with a middle ping g20 irons, is not the same tester who missed by the largest margin with a short iron.
