Nikon DSLR cameras are very popular in the market, and Nikon D3S is one of the high-end cameras. With Nikon D3S, you can take photos and record HD videos when you travel or commute. Nikon D3S supports 1080p H.264 mov recording, you may need to edit those D3S footages in Final Cut Pro on Mac before sharing with others. However, the h.264 codec is good for FCP 6/7 or FCP X editing, it takes long time to render, and you can't edit the Nikon H.264 videos smoothly in Final Cut Pro.
In order to import Nikon D3S h.264 mov footages into Final Cut Prowithout crashing problem and avoid rendering, you'd better use a Nikon H.264 MOV Converter to transcode the H.264 MOV to Apple ProRes encoded mov format, as it's best/natively supported by FCP 6/7 and FCP X.
