Canon XA10 HD Professional Camcorder, able to capture AVCHD video at bitrates up to 24Mbps, the camcorder's native 1920 x 1080 CMOS sensor also lets you choose 60i, 24p, PF30, and PF24 frame rates for customizing the look of your footage, which is designed for situations where mobility is critical while shooting, shares nearly all the functionality of the Canon XF100, but in an even smaller, run-and-gun form factor.
Canon XA10 recording file is AVCHD ( MTS/M2TS ) video format. Some people want to transfer and import Canon XA10 AVCHD to Avid Media Composer for further editing on Mac and have a better enjoyment. But, they find that what claims on Wikipedia is not so right--- your files can not be imported to Avid Media Composer. Even Panasonic has developed a converter for that, the limitations of operating system and model do no help the Cannon XA10 users. In this article, we will hep you sovle the trouble wih a top third AVCHD Converter Tool.

Please follow the bellow steps.
Step 1: Connect your Canon XA10 to your Apple with USB2.0. Install and launch AVCHD to Avid Media Composer Converter on Mac and then click the button for adding to import 1080/30p MTS/M2TS files. You can tick the box in front of the file you want to convert. If it is necessary, you can double click the each file to have a preview.
Tip: If you have multiple 1080/30p MTS/M2TS files, you can tick the “Merge into one” box to merge the files into one single file so that you can edit Canon XA10 1080/30p AVCHD in Avid Media Composer on Mac without interruption.
Step 2: Click on “Format” and you will get a dropdown menu, then move you pointer to Avid Studio> Avid DNxHD(*.mov). The Avid DNxHD .mov format is the only available format when your Avid Media Composer is installed on Mac OS X Lion. Then you can set the output folder by clicking “Browse” icon as you need.
Step 3: Click the “Settings” icon and you will go into a new interface named “Profile Settings”. You’d better set the video frame rate as 30fps, video size as 1920*1080 and select the audio channels as 5.1 channels to keep the best quality for editing in Avid Media Composer. If you import the converted files via AMA, please set Stereo as channels, which will be more suitable for AMA.
Step 4: Click the “Convert” button; it will convert Canon XA10 footage to DNxHD for Avid Media Composer on Mac OS immediately. You can find the process in the “Conversion” interface.
When the conversion process with AVCHD to Avid Converter is 100% completed, you will be able to import Canon XA10 AVCHD 1080p files to Avid Media Composer via clicking on “Open” button effortlessly.
