Sometime ago, my friend came to me with his problem. He needed to edit some video footage from the new
Sony HXR-MC1P,
which is a tiny camera to record HD 1080i in AVCHD format. However, when he log and transfer the footage to FCP 6.0 on
MacBook Pro 2.33GHz with 2Gb RAM, and convert them to Prores 422, there is extreme interlacing and choppiness in the
footage. His post-production fellow also faced the same problem. He had a Windows machine with Sony Vegas Pro, but the
machine is too old and slow to run the AVCHD video.
The operation by my friend to plug the memory stick pro card into a USB card reader to transfer Sony HXR MC1P video footage
is no problem at all. To use log and transfer to load AVCHD full 1920x1080i video is also a recommended way. But to the
interlacing problem, if the output videos are for web page or computer, it is recommended to detinerlace the footage. I
searched and find Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as a prefect Mac Sony
HXR-MC1P MTS to FCP converter, which deinterlaces Sony HXR-MC1P video footages and removes the interlacing
artifact.
Below are the simple steps to deinterlace AVCHD videos from Sony HXR-MC1P and convert MTS to H.264 MOV for Final Cut Pro
.
Step 1. Load Sony HXR-MC1 videos to Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac.
Run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the Mac Sony HXR-MC1P MTS to FCP converter, and click the "Add" button to load
.mts videos from Apple hard drive.
Step 2. Choose H.264 MOV format for FCP.
Click the "Format" option, and choose Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MOV (AVC)(*.mov) for converting Sony HXR-MC1
MTS to H.264 MOV for FCP. The Sony HXR-MC1P MTS converter will keep
the original 1920x1080 video resolution to the QuickTime MOV file.
Step 3. Convert Sony HXR-MC1P MTS to HD .mov.
Click the convert button under the preview window, the Mac Sony HXR-MC1P MTS converter starts converting HD .mts to H.246
.mov for FCP. The converter will automatically deinterlace 1080i MTS video footages, and provides progressive video
for perfect playback on computer.
After transcoding MTS to MOV, just import the .mov file to Final Cut Pro, and there is not interlacing or choppiness issue.
The video footage works great on FCP.
Tips:
1. If you want to edit Sony HXR-MC1 MTS videos on Windows machine, you may try the [url=http://www.aunsoft.com/mts-
converter/]Sony HXR-MC1P MTS to MOV converter[/url].
2. If you are using other Sony AVCHD cameras like HDR-CX550, HDR-XR520, HDR-SR12, you can check the
Sony HD camera to computer page.
