While recording HD videos, Canon AVCHD camcorder uses MPEG4-AVC / H.264 as video compression, and stores video in .mts or .m2ts format. Even though there is bundled Pixela ImageMixer 3 SE for most Canon cameras for saving and transferring videos to computer hard drive, you may find it difficult to play the HD videos from Canon cameras in Windows Media Player.
There are some comments about downloading additional codec to play 1080i/1080p AVCHD videos from Canon camcorder on computer. However, it sometimes does not work. Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter is the recommended Canon AVCHD to MPEG converter to play HD videos on Windows Media Player. My favorite part of the converter is that it is able to deinterlace Canon AVCHD videos.
Here I demonstrate the steps to deinterlace Canon AVCHD MTS/M2TS videos to MPG for playback on Windows Media Player (WMP) with Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter.
Step 1. Transfer Canon MTS/M2TS to computer hard drive.
Connect Canon AVCHD camcorder to computer via USB 2.0 cable, and the in-box Pixela ImageMixer 3SE will help you transfer HD videos to computer drive.
Step 2. Load Canon AVCHD videos to Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter.
Run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter as the Canon AVCHD to WMP converter, and click the "Add" button to load 1080i/1080p .mts and .m2ts videos.
Step 3. Choose HD MPEG format.
Click the "Format" option, and choose HD Video > MPEG-2 HD Video(*.mpg) for converting Panasonic M2TS to HD WMV with WMV3 as video codec. To keep original video quality, click the "Settings" button and choose original option for bit rate.
Step 4. Convert Canon AVCHD to MPG for media player.
Click the convert button under the preview window, the MTS/M2TS to MPG converter starts transcoding 1080i/1080p AVCHD to MPG in high definition 1920x1080 for playback on Windows Media Player, other players on computer, or hardware media player connected with HD TV.
Tips:
1. The Canon AVCHD to MPEG converter works for the MTS and M2TS videos from Canon HF200, HF10, HF11, HF21, HF S100, HF S10, HF S11, HF S200, HF S20, HF S21, HG10, HG20, HG21 and so on.
2. The Canon AVCHD to MPEG converter works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 perfectly. If you are using iMac/MacBook Pro with Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, you can use the Mac Canon MTS/M2TS to MOV converter for playback on QuickTime Player.
