How to Shrink Blu-ray Disc to DVD?
What is Blu-ray disc? - WiKipedia
Blu-ray Disc (official acronym BD, also known as BR or Blu-ray) is an optical disc storage medium designed to supersede the standard DVD format. Its main uses are for storing high-definition video, PlayStation 3 video games, and other data, with up to 25 GB per single layered, and 50 GB per dual layered disc. Although these numbers represent the standard storage for Blu-ray Disc drives, the specification is open-ended, with the upper theoretical storage limit left unclear. 200 GB discs are available, and 100 GB discs are readable without extra equipment or modified firmware. The disc has the same physical dimensions as standard DVDs and CDs.
What is DVD? - WiKipedia
DVD, also known as Digital Video Disc or Digital Versatile Disc, is an optical disc storage media format, and was invented and developed by Philips, Sony, TOSHIBA, and Time Warner in 1995. Its main uses are video and data storage. DVDs are of the same dimensions as compact discs (CDs), but store more than six times as much data.
Variations of the term DVD often indicate the way data is stored on the discs: DVD-ROM (read only memory) has data that can only be read and not written; DVD-R and DVD+R (recordable) can record data only once, and then function as a DVD-ROM; DVD-RW (re-writable), DVD+RW, and DVD-RAM (random access memory) can all record and erase data multiple times. The wavelength used by standard DVD lasers is 650.
How To Shrink Blu-ray disc to DVD?
Whether you want to back up your Blu-ray DVDs in a format that isn't as massive as Blu-ray, or you would simply like to play your Blu-ray movies on a DVD player that doesn't support Blu-ray, a Blu-ray DVD ripper is up to the task. Using a Blu-ray DVD ripper, you can shrink down those large Blu-ray files and retain some of the stunning high-definition quality by converting them into standard DVD files.
Step 1
Download Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper from the program's website (see Resources). Install the program, and then launch it.
Step 2
Insert the Blu-ray disc you'd like to shrink into your computer's Blu-ray drive, and then click the "DVD ROM" button in Pavtube to load the Blu-ray disc files. The Blu-ray disc chapter files will be displayed in Pavtube's main window and will be preselected with a check next to them. Un-check the box next to any chapter tracks you wish to omit from the DVD.
Step 3
Click on the box adjacent to the "Format" heading near the bottom of Pavtube; a menu will appear. Navigate to the "VCDDVD/SVCD" heading, and then select "DVD NTSC 16:9" to set your DVD to display in wide-screen format or "DVD NTSC 4:3" for standard-screen format.
Step 4
Click the "Open" button in the bottom right corner of Pavtube to browse your computer for a location to store the converted DVD files. Click the "Convert" button to shrink your Blu-ray files down to standard DVD format.
Step 5
Insert a blank DVD disc into your computer's Blu-ray ROM drive, or standard DVD-ROM drive, and then launch your computer's DVD burning software. Choose the option to create a new DVD video disc. Add the files extracted from the Blu-ray disc, and then burn your DVD.
Tips & Warnings
1. The conversion process could take awhile; close all other running applications to help expedite the process.
2. If your DVD player is from a region outside of the United States, the "DVD NTSC" setting may not work for your DVD player. You may need to select "DVD PAL" (see Resources).
