How to play .tpd files on your computer
As we know, JVC TOD camcorders like JVC Everio GZ-HD7, GZ-HD3, GZ-HD5, GZ-HD6, GZ-HD30, and GZ-HD40 are all recording footage in the format of .tod (the latter two are dual TOD and AVCHD recording), many users usually use CyberLink PowerDirector to edit the .tod footage and keep the output files in HD quality(1440x1080i or 1920x1080i). The output .tpd files can be sent back to the hard disk of JVC Everio, and play directly from the camera, or connect the camera to a big screen TV via HDMI cable for playback. The thing is that .tpd files can not be played on the PC directly, because Windows does not recognize this format. Step 1: Click "Add" button to load .tpd files
Step 2: Select output format and specify destination folder
After .tpd files are loaded into the program, you can then click the drop-down list of "Format" to select output file format for playback on your PC, and click the folder icon at the opposite side of "Output" to specify where to locate the output files, if not, the program will export the output files to the save path set by default automatically. Moreover, if you need combine multiple .tpd files to be as a single file, you can tick the checkbox "Merge into one file" to achieve this goal.
Step 3: Adjust video and audio parameters
Click "Settings" button, and then you will be able to adjust video and audio parameters on the following interface. Codec name, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate and audio channels are all changeable. Generally speaking, the larger input figures, the better output video quality, but accompanying with the larger file size, on the contrary, the smaller inserted values, the inferior file quality, but accompanying with the smaller file size. If you are not professional at it, you can totally skip this step, because the default settings are a good compromise.
Step 4: Start conversion
As long as the above steps are completed, you can now click "Convert" button to start conversion. The detailed conversion info including time elapsed, time left, generated file size, estimated file size, as well as conversion progress are all presented on the window below. Also you can select "Shut down computer after conversion" if you want to go out for a walk during the conversion is underway or do something else.
Once the conversion is finished, you can find out the output files via clicking "Open" button effortlessly.
