Althogh HandBrake can rip DVD to various video formats, whten you want to edit(Crop, Trim, Merge titles...) your DVD movie, Handbrake can't help you. We will provide Mac DVD Ripper to sovle these problems for you.
Free Download the related Tool - Mac DVD Ripper, then follow the guide to edit your DVD for getting super MKV files.
Step1. Run Aimersoft DVD Ripper for Mac. Insert your DVD disc into DVD drive, then click “Load DVD” button to import the DVD file. You can also load DVD folders from your hard drive by clicking “Load IFO”, DVD folders files name appear like "Video_TS”.
Step2. Edit video - Trim, Crop, Adjust effect
1) Trim
If you want to capture certain part of the DVD movie, you can click “Trim” to customize the conversion time, there will be a timeline below the preview window, you can drag the little triangle icon to set the conversion start time and end time. See the following picture:
2) Crop video
If you want to cut the black edges of the DVD movie, you can click the “Crop” button, and then you will see a pop up windows (See the figure below). There is a frame in dashed line around the movie video; you can drag it to cut the black edges. More over, you can specify an area by setting the crop values. You can select an output aspect ratio and the available options are: Keep Original, full screen, 16:9 and 4:3.
3) Adjust video effects - Emboss, Megative, Old film...
You can click the “Effect” button and customize the brightness, saturation, contrast, volume, etc (See the figure below). You can even apply special effects such as “Emboss”, “Negative”, “Old film” and “Gray” by selecting an effect from drop-down list.
4) Merge DVD Titles, Chapters into one File
If you want to join several DVD chapters into one file, on the main interface, there is a check box “Merge into one file”, select it, then you will only get one output file instead of several files by chapters.
Step3. Select MKV or MKA as output formats
You can select MKV or MKA as the output format from "Profile" section, set the video resolution, Bit Rate, Frame Rate and audio Sample Rate, Bit Rate, etc. see the following picture.
Step4. Convert DVD to MKV

This tutorial will show you how to rip a DVD to AVI, MPEG, MPEG4, WMV, MOV, DivX, ASF video or WMV, MP3 audio on your Mac computer. After download DVD Ripper for Mac and install it on your Mac, you can follow the steps below to accomplish the conversion.
Step 1: Load DVD to the DVD Ripper For Mac
Insert DVD into your DVD-ROM, run DVD Ripper for Mac, and then the DVD ripper will load the DVD automatically.
You can also click the """"Add"""" button to load DVD disc, DVD folder or DVD image (IFO file).
Step 2: Set the output format

Step 3: Set the output file destination and file name
You can click the """"Browse"""" button to choose the path where you want to save the output files or just keep the default path; you can specify the output file name in the """"Output filename"""" textbox.
Step 4: Start conversion
After everything is OK, click the """"Convert"""" button to start ripping.
When the conversion is completed, you can click the """"Open"""" button at the bottom of the main interface to browse the output files.
How to trim the video to convert a certain segment?
1. Choose the title or chapter of the DVD that contains the segment you want, and click the """"Trim"""" button to open """"Video Trim"""" window.
2. In the """"Video Trim"""" window, click """"Play"""" button to preview the video, then you can specify the very start position by clicking the """"Set Begin"""" button and end position by clicking the """"Set End"""" button. And if you do not satisfy with the position you set, just click """"Reset"""" to set the position again.
3. Click the """"OK"""" button to apply your setting, and then a scissors icon would add to the title or chapter you choose. You can press the """"Convert"""" button to start the conversion.
