Sony NEX-VG900 is a great Full frame DSLR. It offers the world's first dual AF system in a DSLR, and the world's lightest body for a full-frame DSLR, this dust- and moisture-sealed camera replaces the old Alpha A-series A900 and A700 full-frame DSLRs and boasts what Sony calls "dramatically improved image quality, noise reduction and AF performance." It also records Full HD 1080 60p movie and surpports uncompressed Full 1080 HDMI output in 24p/60p/60i. I believe the high definition will give a great enjoyment.

It is a pity that the Sony A99 recored HD video file is AVCHD Ver. 2.0 (Progressive), AVCHD. As we know AVCHD uses MPEG-4/H.264 codec, it menas that it is not a good editing format. Many people have met some troubles about AVCHD editing, especially importing AVCHD to Final Cut Pro. If you are trouble in the incompatible issues, here is a quick step by step process to help you to get Sony VG900 clips to work well with FCP.

Final Cut Pro(FCP 6/7/X) best supported video format is Apple ProRes codec MOV format, so the best method to solve Sony NEX-VG900 AVCHD and FCP incompatible problem is to convert Sony NEX-VG900 1080/60P AVCHD footage to ProRes for editing in Final Cut Pro. AVCHD to FCP Converter is a simple tool to do just that. It can help you convert Sony VG900 AVCHD 60P files to ProRes 422 MOV format for Final Cut Pro, more import and output formats are also supported.

Step 1: Install and launch this MTS Converter for Mac. Import your Sony NEX-VG900 footages to the converter. Merge several AVCHD clips by ticking “Merge into one” box.

Step 2: Click "format" bar to choose the output format. Click and choose "Final Cut Pro -> Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)" as Final Cut Pro 7/X compatible codec for editing AVCHD MTS files in FCP smoothly.

Step 3: You can click "settings" to customize the output parameters, adjust the resolution, bitrate as you want. Set video size as 1920*1080, video frame rate as 30fps is better.
