And along with third-party softwares, we can easily get movies off of DVD and onto Nexus 7 for playing back. However, users still have prolems one or another when ripping DVD to Nexus 7. Q1: Best SW to rip DVD to Nexus 7?
I'm traveling again next week and was hoping to rip some dvds onto my Nexus 7 for the trip. I have a few questions for the community experts:
Any suggestions on some easy to use, reliable software?
A1: There are many programs out there that allow you to make copies of your DVDs and let you watch them the way you want to view them. Most of you are likely familiar with the champion freeware fave Handbrake, keep in mind that that program can't rip copy-protected DVDs without a third-party add-on, and it doesn't have Nexus-7-specific profiles. If you're looking for ease of use, and don't mind spending $35, I've had success using Pavtube's DVD Ripper to convert DVD discs and ISO images to a format playable by Nexus 7. I've found the quality to be excellent, and see no difference when compared to playing the discs themselves. Find a simple ripping guide here: Ripping DVD for Nexus 7.
Q2: Best Settings for DVD conversion to Nexus7?
I just got a nexus 7 on Tuesday and I will be going on a road trip this weekend for 3 days and I will need some movies to entertain me. I was gonna try converting some DVDs I own so that I watch them on my trip in the car.
I guess I was gonna try VP8 and see if that worked beacuse I was figuring google should have made it so that a Nexus7 could watch VP8 files.
Does anyone know what codecs will work, what bit rate, ETC.... I havnt actually done anything like this in a super long time. If anyone could help me with this I would be very thank full
A2: Below is the best format setting for Nexus 7 per my experience:
For those of you in the know, the Nexus 7 is capable of handling H.264 and MPEG4 video up to 1080p, though video playback and most apps never break out of 720p. For watching videos on the Android-based Tablet, 720p with 1500~2000kbps is just all right. Remember the file size is based more on bitrate than resolution which means bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss.
Q3: View DVD films on Nexus 7 with proper subtitles
I want to digitize DVDs we own before an upcoming car trip. I wonder how to get proper subtitle when encoding the DVD to Nexus 7?
A3: For converting DVD to Nexus 7 with desired subs, many programs can achieve this goal smoothly. The Pavtube software mentioned above can help you realize the way for watching DVD movies on Nexus 7 with proper subtitle, just select wanted subtitle language you like from "Subtitles" option.
