Do like editing videos with Avid Media Composer? The Avid MC is more and more popular for us, it can surpport to edit with P2, XDCAM, R3D, Quicktime and AVCHD (MTS/M2TS) native material directly without capture or transcoding with AMA. But the more functions, the more shortcomings. Avid can create an m2t stream from an HD timeline, but it can't import m2ts files directly. Below is question from a user:
I am having a TON of trouble importing m2ts files into Avid Media composer. The footage was shot on a Sony HXR-MC50U Digital HD Camera. The files have been saved to an external Hard drive using the cameras suggested software.."PMB" The PMB software offers the option to convert to MPEG-2 and WMV files. I tried the MPEG-2 conversion but when I tried to import it into Avid I got the notice that the format was not supported. Any idea? Thanks!!!
From the above issue, we can know the user want to convert Sony HXR-MC50U M2TS videos to MPEG-2 or WMV files for editing in Avid Media Composer. But the converted video file is also can't be edited in Avid by using PMB software. In fact, the most friendly video format is DNxHD (*.mov) for Avid. Thus, you need to choose the professional M2TS to Avid MC Converter to encode or change M2TS to Avid DNxHD first. It has own Avid Media Composer profile.
