The first professional 4/3" large image video camcorder- Panasonic AVCCAM AG-AF100 optimized for high-definition video recording, represents an enormous leap forward in affordable, cinema-quality video imaging. It offers superior video handling, native 1080/24p recording, variable frame rates, professional audio capabilities, and compatibility with SDHC and SDXC media and plays its trump card with a large, 4/3-type image sensor. I am glad be the one of AF100 users. But, it should be the incompatiblity problem when I put and import Panasonic AG-AF100 1080p footages to FCP.

The reason is that FCP can not natively support the AVCHD video format. Although the Log and Transfer does help import AVCHD 1080p files to FCP, I will still meet the incompatibility problem. Luckily, I used a top AVCHD Converter for Mac to transcode Panasonic AF100 MTS/M2TS to FCP a comfortable video format on my Mac, and then I copy AF100 shootings to FCP for editing without renderng and any trouble. Here, I will take the best MTS/M2TS to FCP Converterfor Mac as an example and share my fast coverting process. Follow the bellow steps, you are also capable of merging several videos into one file, deinterlacing the original footages, cropping video size, trimming video clips, adding special effects and text/image/video watermarks to output videos.

Step 1: Connect your Panasonic AG-AF100 to your Apple with USB2.0. Install and launch the top Mac AVCHD to FCP Converter and then click the adding button to import your AVCHD 1080p MTS/M2TS files. You can tick the box in front of the file you want to convert.
Tip: If you have multiple 1080p files, you can select the “Merge into one” box to merge the files into one single file for FCP.

Step 2: Click on the “Format” and get the dropdown menu, then move you pointer to “Final Cut Pro”. Under the sub list are there a few formats which are all compatible with FCP. Select the Apple PreRes 422(HQ). Then you can set the output folder by clicking “Browse” icon as you need.
Note: If you want the files to be in smaller size and make sure that your FCP has updated to 7.0.3 version or above, you can follow Final Cut Pro>Apple ProRes 422(*mov) option. If your files size is at SD levels, you are advised to choose Final Cut Pro>Apple ProRes 422(Proxy)(*mov), which is recommended for 480i/p and 576i/p shootings as well.

Step 3: Click the “Settings” icon and you will go into a new interface named “Profile Settings” to choose best setting. You’d better set the video frame rate as 30fps, video size as 1920*1080 to keep the best quality for getting AVCHD Camera recordings into Final Cut Pro from Mac. If you want to have a smaller file size but keep the good quality, you can change the video size to 1440*1080.

Step 4: Click the “Convert” button; it will start the fast AG-AF100 AVCHD files to ProRes for FCP conversion on Mac immediately. You can find the process in the “Conversion” interface.

After convertig, you will be able to get the output files for FCP by clicking on “Import” button effortlessly. Now you can transfer and edit Panasonic AF100 MTS/M2TS in FCP and don't need to worry about the incompatibility problem any more.
