BEVERLY HILLS - Martin Scorsese doesn't think Prohibition was a bad idea.

The problem with Prohibition, Scorsese suggests, was unintended consequences - though at least one of those consequences has again provided Scorsese with rich film fodder.
He directed the pilot of HBO's new 12-part series, "Boardwalk Empire," which premieres Sept. 19 and tells the complex story of fictionalized booze king Nucky Thompson, who ruled Atlantic City in the 1920s with a politician's charm and a rumrunner's efficiency.boardwalk empire season 2 dvd

"We didn't want to hold it," said Michael Lombardo, HBO programming president.
