Recently, I have noticed a common problem of Sony HDR-TG1 users from some forums. They imported their Sony HDR-TG1 HD files to Final Cut Pro software unsuccessfully.
Video taken from Sony HDR-TG1 is in the very high clarity of 1920x1080 Full HD resolution and the videos are in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 file format, besides, Sony HDR-TG1 supports HD, FH, HQ, SP, LP types. Although Sony HDR-TG1 claims it contains mts/m2ts of AVCHD footage, it is not natively supported by Final Cut Pro, which supports up to 4K resolutions and during import, can analyze footage and audio for automatic sorting into groups such as close-ups and medium shots. So, Sony HDR-TG1 mts HD files must be converted into FCP friendly formats such as Apple ProRes 422(*mov), Apple ProRes 422(HQ)(*mov), Apple ProRes 422(LT)(*mov), etc.
Our suggestion for Converting Sony HDR-TG1 HD files for Final Cut Pro is converting the files with MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac software product.
