My Mother’s Day Gift - Enjoying a Great Movie Time with Mom
Yesterday my colleague Johnny asked me what gifts I have prepared for the coming Mother’s Day. Actually I almost forgot May 8th if it was not for Johnny’s reminder. Only at that moment have I realized I haven’t been home for a long time, 10 months if I remember correctly.
After graduation from college 2 years ago I went to an international trade company here in Los Angeles. Life is always busy here in this metropolis. And I often have to business travel between America and China. Free time to me is usually too short.
My mom lives in Orlando. She often calls me to check if everything’s fine for me. Those mentioned old topics include if I have dressed warm, don’t stay up too late, having meals on time, drying my hand before touching the switches and many things like that. Oh, there’s another topic she’ll never forget - if I have had girlfriend. If I tell her no, she will always push me and then tell the love story between she and my father.
Mom is Mom. In her eyes I will always be a child. She raised me up and has devoted all her love. What can I give in return? I am now can earn my own bread. It’s time I think of doing something for her.
What gifts should I pick for my mom on the coming Mother’s Day? I thought for a long time from necklace to cooking books, but it seems all of those are not so special. Then suddenly one idea occurred to me: why I don’t spend a time enjoying Disney cartoons with mom? My mom is a super fan for Disney cartoons. She has probably all the collections of Disney cartoon movies in DVD and Blu-ray from the Steamboat Willie to Toy Story 3. When I was a child I often watched the cartoons after school with my mom. We laughed together and cried together while my father often said we ourselves were a cartoon called “Silly Mother and Son”. The movie time sharing with my mom is really a very sweet and beautiful memory.
I remember last time I watched the cartoons with my mom was almost 4 years ago. I am sure she shall be very happy if I can go home and accompany her to share the movie time again. This kind of gift I think shall be much better than just buying her something material.
Mom has a Blu-ray/DVD player connected to a 40 inch widescreen HDTV. She watches her movies directly from the discs via the player and TV. Mom told me many of her favorite discs have had heavy scratches after long time repeatedly insert and eject the discs, which makes her quite heart-breaking.
To settle mom’s problem I decide to bring her also some material gifts: a BD/DVD backup software called Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper and two hardwares WD hard drive and WDTV media player. I have been using these three products for quite a long time as my media solutions. Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper can convert BD or DVD flawlessly to digital movie copies which then can be stored on my WD hard drive. I connect then the WD drive to WDTV media player connected to my TV. Bingo! You don’t have to bother with so many discs and be afraid of the scratches anymore. All your movie collections now are at hand in the little hard drive.
I think Mom shall be more happy if she knows I can also rescue her favorite Disney discs. I’ll ask my boss for two days’ leave and head home soon for the Mother’s Day. How fantastic it would be to enjoy a great movie time again with my dear mom on this special day. Sh, don’t tell my mom for the surprise’s sake robinhan - Mon May 09, 2011 5:37 pm Post subject: How to rip/convert DVD to iPad/iPad 2 on Mac?
