If you have just got a new camcorder and are killing yourself to understand how to play, convert and import properly those damn .MOD video files, I think have got some solutions for you.
MOD file format is used by various digital camcorder models (JVC Everio, Panasonic and Canon) to save their videos. These MOD files are often accompanied with small .MOI files which contain the videos’ time-stamp information.
Here is the list of supported MOD Camcorders is as below: JVC: GZ-MG630 (60 GB HDD, MicroSD); GZ-MG670 (80 GB HDD, MicroSD); GZ-MG680 (120 GB HDD, MicroSD); GZ-MG7230 (30 GB HDD, MicroSD); GZ-MS100U (SD/SDHC card), etc.
Panasonic: SDR-S50 (SD/SDHC/SDXC card); SDR-T50P; SDR-T55P (SD/SDHC/SDXC card, internal flash); SDR-H85P (SD/SDHC/SDXC card, hard drive); SDR-S26 (SD/SDHC card)；SDR-SW21 (SD/SDHC card); SDR-SW20 (SD/SDHC card)；SDR-S7 (SD/SDHC card); SDR-H20 (HDD, SD/SDHC card); SDR-H60 (HDD, SD/SDHC card), etc.

How To Make MOD Files Read By Any Software
1. Basic solution: MOD format is simply a MPEG-2 formatted video file,it is reportedly safe to rename the extension from MOD to MPG or AVI. And then to make sure that the video program you import these files into is set properly relative to the video standard used (PAL or NTSC), the aspect ratio used, and the interlacing.
2. If your MOD files were recorded in 4:3 format then just rename them to MPG. If they are 16:9 widescreen, then you could use Brorsoft MOD File Converter for Mac to convert them.
3. The problem with these tags stems from the fact that they are being stored in associated small text files with the extension MOI. Once you separate the MOD file from its companion MOI file, the video software you use to open the video file doesn’t know anymore what aspect ratio and video file format is being used and tries to guess automatically.
How to play JVC Everio, Canon, Panasonic MOD files on Mac OS Step 1: Click “Add” button to import MOD files to the best MOD File Converter for Mac
