Off-topic - Convert AVCHD footage, Sony DSC-HX5V MTS to Final Cut Studio suoying14 - Wed Aug 11, 2010 10:25 pm Post subject: Convert AVCHD footage, Sony DSC-HX5V MTS to Final Cut Studio Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5V is a Sony pocket camera in light weight but offers 1920x1080i and 1920x1080i AVCHD video recording and 1440x1080p MP4 recording. I used my new Sony DSC-HX5V to shoot videos about the congregation of church services in Paisley Abbey, Church of Scotland, and others.
When I stored the videos on Apple hard drive, and want to edit in Apple's Final Cut Studio, I faced the problem that neither Final Cut Studio, nor any of my existing video grabbers converts the AVCHD footage from DSC-HX5V. I think I should convert AVCHD from Sony DSC-HX5V and then import HD videos to Final Cut Studio for editing. I find Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac a brilliant Sony to Final Cut Studio converter. It converts 1920x1080i MTS to 1920x1080p MOV for editing, and deinterlaces interlacing artifacts.
Below are the steps to convert AVCHD church videos from my Sony DSC-HX5V camera to HD MOV for editing in Final Cut Studio.
Step 1. Load Sony DSC-HX5V AVCHD videos to Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac.
Run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the Sony DSC-HX5V MTS to Final Cut Studio converter, and click the "Add" button to load .mts videos.
Step 2. Choose H.264/AVC MOV output format.
Click the "Format" option, and choose Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MOV (AVC)(*.mov) for converting church videos from MTS to MOV with H.264/AVC as video codec for loading to Final Cut Studio. With this option, the output video will be kept as high definition1920x1080.
Step 3. Convert AVCHD church videos to MOV.
Click the convert button under the preview window, the Mac Sony MTS converter starts converting 1080i MTS videos to H.246 .mov in 1080p for Final Cut Studio.
Soon after the conversion is finished, just bring the HD church videos to Final Cut Studio for editing. The Sony MTS to Final Cut Studio converter deinterlace 1080i AVCHD videos to MOV with perfect synchronization.
