I have Canon FS10 as a pocket camcorder to shoot videos for non-profit organization. The compact Canon FS10 includes 8GB internal flash memory, and it is possible to record videos directly to SDHC cards. After transferring videos from Canon FS10 camcorder, Microsoft Movie Maker does not recognize the .mod files.
Only a few limited formats are supported by MS Movie Maker, e.g. AVI, WMV, MPG, ASF, MP2, MPEG, MP3, WAV, WMA. I shall convert MOD to AVI for importing videos to Movie Maker. Aunsoft Video Converter is the recommended Canon FS10 MOD converter, which makes it easy to edit Canon FS10 videos in MS Movie Maker.
Here is the step-by-step guide for converting Canon FS10 MOD to AVI for editing in Windows Movie Maker (WMM).
Step 1. Load Canon FS10 MODvideos to Aunsoft Video Converter.
Connect Canon FS10 camcorder to computer via USB cable and transfer video to computer hard drive. Run Aunsoft Video Converter as the Canon FS10 to WMM converter, and click the "Add" button to load .mod videos.
Step 2. Choose AVI output format.
Click the "Format" option, and choose Common Video > AVI MSMPEG4-V3 (*.avi) for converting Canon FS10 MOD files to AVI for Windows Movie Maker.
Step 3. Convert Canon MOD to AVI for WMM.
Click the convert button under the preview window, the MOD to AVI converter starts transcoding Canon FS10 MOD to AVI for editing in Windows Movie Maker.
After the conversion, it is easy to edit recorded videos in Windows Movie Maker together with other videos and images.
