Retaining DVD chapter markers in Multi-track MP4 Video
Description: This guide provides you an easy way to make MP4 files with chapter marker, so that you can transfer them and watch on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Watching DVD movies on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch could be such an enjoyment; the workflow is quite common as we now have so many rippers on the marketplace. But since we are talking about DVDs, it's much important to keep the original chapter marker when playback; y'all agree?
As myself, I own a large collection of DVDs and like to watch them on the subway to work with iPhone, stream DVD movies to my home media server so kids could watch them on iPad, etc. As languages we use German, English and Spanish, so I have to find out a workflow to rip DVD collections to MP4 with chapter marker and it's better to include at least three audio tracks in one conversion.
With such a tough task, I had spent a lot of time searching online, tried several SWs - some ok but always something that does not quite to do what I need. Luckily, I finally got this Pavtube ByteCopy (Review).
Pavtube ByteCopy is a pro version Blu-ray/DVD ripping program, it's not only able to remove disc encryption and transfer to iPhone, iPad and iPad touch readable format, but also keeps the original DVD/Blu-ray chapter marker and multiple audio tracks, so that you can free switch the language during playback.
You can download a trial version (no time limit) firstly, or share it to FB to get 20% OFF any Pavtube programs.
Tips:
1. Although this ByteCopy should be able to rip Blu-rays, I have no experience with it as I don't have an external Blu-ray drive. But one of my friends had a test and said it's quite worthy a try.
2. Mac version is also available: Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac
How to rip DVD to MP4 with chapter marker for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch?
Get this ByteCopy installed and let's start the workflow easily.
Step 1. Import DVD disc, DVD folder, IFO/ISO image files.
Insert DVD disc to your ROM, click "Load files" to import DVD disc directly from ROM. If you have IFO/ISO and DVD folder, choose the corresponding option to load DVD movies from your computer.
The main title in your DVD will be checked by default; so let's move on and choose format.
Step 2. Choose format.
Click the "Format" drop-down list and choose "Multi-track Video>Multi-track MP4(*.mp4)" as below:
Step 3. Adjust video&audio settings (optional)
Click the "Settings" button to check all video&audio settings. By default it will check all the audio tracks (languages), so if you only need some of the languages, just check the unwanted ones.
Btw, video size, bitrate and frame rate can all be changed if you are not satisfied with default settings.
Don't forget to click OK to confirm all the changes.
Step 4. Start conversion.
Click the big red "Convert" to start converting DVDs to MP4 with multiple languages. The original DVD chapter marker will be kept automatically.
After conversion, hit the "Open" or "Open output folder" icon to quick locate converted MP4 videos, transfer it to your iPhone/iPad/iPod via iTunes.
OK! We now can watch DVD movies on iOS devices with chapter markers and languages.
FYI: QuickTime cannot work with all the videos with chapter markers; in case of the problem, you are suggested to download a VLC Player for IOS here.

Rip DVD to digital format for NAS and stream to HTPC
Description: The below article will provide a easy way for you to convert your DVD and Blu-ray discs to digital format for storing on your NAS and playing on HTPC.
Q: If you have lots of DVD and Blu-ray discs in hand, what will you do?
A: I am a CEO of a Not For Profit organization that likes computer gaming and watching movies. I am looking to rip my DVD and Blu-ray Disc to digital format to store on my home NSA and play them on my HTPC.
The aims of conversion
That is one typical customer in my survey of "What's the aim of doing format conversion". According to my survey, I found many people convert their DVD and Blu-ray movies to digital format for two usages:
Storing on home NAS
NAS, with Network Attached Storage in full, is the extender for home sharing. NAS not only operates as a file server, but is specialized for this task either by its hardware, software, or configuration of those elements. NAS is often manufactured as a computer appliance – a specialized computer built from the ground up for storing and serving files – rather than simply a general purpose computer being used for the role.
Playing on HTPC
A home theater PC (HTPC) or media center computer is a convergence device that combines some or all the capabilities of the personal computer with a software application that supports video, photo, audio playback, and sometimes video recording functionality. With HTPC, you could avoid suffering the load and crowed cinema while having the same enjoyment of the fantastic visual effect.
How to complete the conversion
Free download and install the App: Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate (get 20% off for New Year Promotion)
It's an all-in-one app right for you. If you are a Mac user, you can use its equivalent Mac version: iMedia Converter for Mac to achieve your goal smoothly. Step 3. Click the convert button under the preview window, and the video converter will start the conversion from Blu-ray/DVD movies to MP4 for storing on NAS and playing on HTPC.

Description: This article introduces how to lossless backup a Blu-ray to MKV format on Mac, so that you can watch the movie on TV via HiMedia 900B.
HiMedia 900B is a conventional specialist Media Player which supports all file formats including 3D movies. With it and a HDMI cable, you can watch most videos on TV without format problems.
HiMedia Supported Formats:
Video: RM/RMVB, H.264, VC1, WMV, MPEG 1/2/4, MP4, DIVX, XVID, BDMV, BD-ISO, MKV, TS, M2TS, MTS, FLV, AVI, DVD-ISO, VOB, MPG, DAT, ASF, TP, TRP, SWF, 3D-SBS, VCD, DVD, AVCHD, MINIBD, RBD, BD-3D, 3D BD-ISO, FRAME PACKED 3D
Audio: FLAC, APE, LC-AAC, HE-AAC, MP3, OGG, WMA, WAV, AC3, DTS, DTS-HD MA, TRUEHD, CD
Although it supported Blu-rays natively, it's still not a good idea to take out Blu-ray discs frequently due to scratch issues. Also, as I own a large collection of Blu-rays, I also built a home NAS with large storage, so the file size is not the case. Like I said, generally I just want a tool that can backup Blu-rays to MKV without quality loss on Mac.
So I started to search online for an ideal tool. However, it's rather disappointing that most ripping software simply compress my Blu-ray to MKV container format with codec like H.264, AVC, ect., the converted video is downsized which doesn't work for me. At last one of my colleague recommended Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac and wow, it works like a charm! It's so easy to use, converts very fast and output lossless videos. Below is my workflow on Mac.
Required Tool: Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac | Review
Operation system:
- Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks, 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.7 Lion, Snow Leopard 10.6.
- 1G Hz or above Intel processor.
- 1GB physical RAM (memory) or above.
- 1024*768 or higher resolution display.
- Optical Drive: DVD drive (BD drive is required for ripping Blu-ray disc)
Tips:
1. There's 6 times limitation if you use the trial version to output lossless MKV files;
2. this program also has a Windows version which works for Windows 8.1/Windows 8/Windows 7/Windows Vista/2003/XP find the ByteCopy (windows) here.
How to lossless backup Blu-ray to MKV for HiMedia 900B and keep multi-track?
Step 1. Launch Pavtube ByteCopy and load disc.
Firstly you need an external blu-ray drive; there's no special requirements of the drive model as long as it's supported by your Mac.
Click the top left icon and it will detect the inserted Blu-ray disc, click disc name to load them.
Step 2. Choose lossless format.
Click "Format" list and select "Multi-track Video>Lossless/encoded Multi-track MKV(*.mkv)" as below.
Step 3. Adjust V/A settings.
Click "Settings" to enter Multi-track video profile window; switch to "Video" and find the "Encode" box which is unchecked by default, so if you want a lossless MKV copy, do not touch it.
The switch to "Audio", check wanted audio track; so does the "Subtitles".
Step 4. Start backing up Blu-rays to lossless MKV
Click the big "Convert" to start the conversion. It takes about 40 mins for my Macbook to backup a Blu-ray disc, but the conversion speed also depends on your computer configuration. My suggestion is not to play or edit videos when it's converting. After conversion, click "Open" or "Open output folder" to quick locate converted files.
Ok now the lossless MKV files are prepared; transfer them to your hard drive and connect it to HiMedia, now you can enjoy Blu-ray movies on TV without quality loss!

Canon 70D workflow - Edit Canon 70D 1080p MOV with FCP(X)
Summary: The article shows you the best workaround for editing Canon EOS 70D videos in FCP by transcoding Canon H.264 .mov to FCP native editing format - Apple Prores 422 Codec.
I'm working on a feature on my mac, shot on Canon 70D, and am in the process of converting all my MOV files to manageable ProRes files. But I am unsure how to do this. Can someone give me a basic rundown of the procedure? I would be most appreciative.
This question is from one of my client, if you have used Canon 70D camera and recorded many 1080p videos, then how to ingest Canon 70D mov video into FCP for editing without crashing problem and avoid rendering?
In fact, MOV video format came from Canon 70D is a long GOP format that is highly compressed, which means it is not convenient for editing on Mac with Final Cut Pro. To import Canon EOS 70D 1080P video to Final Cut Pro for editing, the best way is to convert Canon EOS 70D 1080p HD MOV video to Final Cut Pro native Apple Prores .mov video on Mac.
Mac Canon h.264 MOV Converter is a professional HD video converter for you to easily convert Canon 70D 1080P video to Apple ProRes 422 so that you can easily import the Canon h.264 recordings to Final Cut Pro X, Final Cut Pro 6, Final Cut Pro 7 for editing on Mac. This will help you import the file correctly and saving the rendering time.
Below is a brief guide for you.
How to import Canon EOS 70D H.264 MOV footage to Final Cut Pro on Mac?

Here listed the main difference of the five ProRes codecs.
a. ProRes 422 (HQ): offers the utmost possible quality for 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 sources and provides target data rate of approximately 220 Mbps and higher quality than Apple ProRes 422;
b. ProRes 422: provides target data rate of approximately 145 Mbps and higher quality than Apple ProRes 422 (LT);
c. ProRes 422 (LT): provides roughly 70 percent of the data rate of Apple ProRes 422 (thus, smaller file sizes than Apple ProRes 422) and higher quality than ProRes 422 (Proxy);
Learn how to convert Canon EOS 70D H.264 MOV to ProRes 422 LT for FCP X
d. ProRes 422 (Proxy): provides roughly 30 percent of the data rate of Apple ProRes 422 and high-quality offline editing at the original frame size, frame rate, and aspect ratio;

Step 4. You can click "settings" to customize the output parameters, adjust the resolution, bitrate as you want.

As the next flagship smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S5 has attracted lots of attentions from fans all over the world. It claimed to be equipped with an astonishing Eye Scanner (IRIS scanning), a curved display similar to existing Galaxy Round, which one of Apple iPhone or other smartphone does not have.
There have been so many rumors about this new smartphone, like will it equip a flexible round screen? Is it coming with a 64-bit processor? Will it be weather and dust-proof? Or about the super-sensitive new camera on board, etc.
As I decided to preorder a Galaxy S5 long ago, I've also designed what I would do with it. It can't be cooler to take this Galaxy out and enjoy DVD movies on the way to work, especially rainy days. Although Samsung has not revealed the specification of S5, we should think of that it won't be designed with a port for DVD drive. Hence for people who also want to watch DVD movies on S5, we do have this problem: how to transfer my DVD collections to Galaxy S5 on PC or Mac?
After spending several days trawling on the Internet, I found a free workflow with Handbrake –a software that rips DVD to various formats including the MP4 that Galaxy S-series accept. (See Samsung Galaxy S5/S4/S3/S2/S Best Supported Video Format)
However, what I really want to keep is the audio tracks out of this movie. For some reason, I'd prefer to obtain both German and English of original movie so that I can switch the language when playback, which Handbrake doesn't do.
That's the reason why I chose Pavtube ByteCopy as an alternative of Handbrake.
Pavtube ByteCopy is a professional multi-track DVD ripping tool to roll off commercial disc protection and convert it to MP4 format that Galaxy S5 supports. It has a very easy-to-use interface and I don't need to change any of the specs.
Tips: Mac version is available here; well support Mac 10.9: ByteCopy for Mac

Rip 1080p Blu-ray movies to 720p MKV with lossless audio for playback on Windows media player
Description: From this article, you can learn how to keep 1080p Blu-ray movies to 720p MKV on hard drive for playback on media player with lossless audio.
I used to think that I could play my Blu-ray movies on my media player. But when I have a try by myself, it shows that I was wrong. After did some research and I found something. Take Windows media player as an example, Windows media player is capable of playing all types of media. However, many video formats, such as Blu-ray, are proprietary and typically require a royalty payment in the form of a license to its owner. In order for Microsoft to include support for Blu-ray discs, it would have to pay Sony a royalty, which would likely mean passing on that cost to consumers. Instead, Microsoft chooses to let the consumer decide on whether to pay to use Blu-ray technology.
Due to this, I searched online for a blu-ray ripping software to convert 1080p Blu-ray movies to 720p MKV while keeping all lossless audio for playback on my Windows Media player. I searched for "was capable of ripping Disney blu-rays" and many blu-ray ripping software came up. I’ve tried some such as MakeMKV, Handbrake and son on. However, although MakeMKV helps me to get MKV files, it suffers a little quality loss, while Handbrake only help me convert normally 30GB file down to 3-6GB. My problem wasn’t completely solved until I tried Pavtube ByteCopy( Mac user: Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac). I really appreciate its profile of backing up blu-ray movies to MKV without quality loss. Beside, it could have worked on all my movies.
Below is the method how I convert 1080p Blu-ray movies to 720p MKV keeping all lossless audio for playback on my Media player.
1. Install and run the converter. Click load disc button to import the Blu-ray movies to the program.
2. Click the Format menu, select "Lossless/encoded Multi-track MKV(*.mkv)" as the output video format.
3. This specific profile could allow you to choose the audios you want as well as encode them.
4. Finally click the Convert button to begin ripping blu-ray to 720p MKV keeping all lossless audio.
After encoding process has finished successfully, go into the destination directory and backup the converted files to my hard drive, then I could playback on a media player I like.
